Alongside the Mi 11, Xiaomi also announced its 75-inch Mi QLED TV that packs a host of features. The TV will launch in select markets first, and it isn’t clear if and when this TV will come to India.
“The TV category is definitely one of the most important within Xiaomi’s product universe, and we continue to challenge ourselves to deliver better specs and areas of innovation,” said Emory Babb, Product Marketing Manager, Xiaomi. “Building on Mi TV’s strong momentum in China and India, we are thrilled to bring the next-gen smart TV experience to the global markets.”
The 75-inch Mi TV is a QLED TV with full-array backlighting and 192 dimming zones. It also supports HDMI 2.1 making it a great choice for those looking at exploiting the PS5 and Xbox Series X features.
75-inch Mi TV Q1 QLED TV specifications and features
As you’ve probably guessed by now, the TV has a 75-inch screen size. It features a quantum dot layer between the backlighting and the display, hence, QLED panel. The display has a 4K resolution and support for popular HDR formats including HDR 10, HDR 10+ and Dolby Vision. The TV boasts of 100% NTSC and 95% DCI-P3 colour space. It also claims 1000 nit’s peak brightness.
The TV has full-array backlighting with 192 zones. With dimmable zones, one can expect better black performance from the panel when compared to a TV that lacks dimming zones. The TV also supports HDMI 2.1 along with features like ALLM. It has a 120Hz panel which should make it great for gaming on the PS5 (review) or Xbox Series X (review).
Xiaomi also says that the TV comes with “premium metal finish and an epic 178° viewing angle, enabling truly bezel-less viewing from anywhere in the room”.
Moving over to audio, the TV has 30W of sound output with a six speakers’ setup – two tweeters and four woofers. It supports Dolby Audio and DTS-HD. This isn’t the first time we have seen a six-speaker setup on a Xiaomi TV. The 55-inch Mi QLED TV launched in India also boasts of a six-speaker setup. The 55-inch variant launched in India has QLED backlighting and supports HDMI 2.1 in all the three ports. However, it only has a 60Hz refresh rate and no dimming zones. Coming back to the 75-inch Mi TV, it runs on Android 10 out of the box giving you access to all popular streaming services. The remote control which comes with the TV isn’t as minimalist as the ones found with Mi TVs in India but has dedicated hotkeys for Netflix and Priem Videos. The remote control also has a dedicated button to bring up the Google Assistant. The TV also comes with Chromecast built-in.
Moving over to connectivity options, it has 3 HDMI ports of which only 1 port supports HDMI 2.1 which is a bit of a downer when you consider that all three ports on the Mi QLED TV launched in India has all 3 HDMI 2.1 enabled ports. The other two HDMI ports support HDMI 2.0. The TV also has 2 USB ports, a LAN port, optical port, AV input and good old antenna.
