Garena had earlier announced that it is rescheduling its upcoming Free Fire World Series tournament (FFWS 2021 SG) keeping in mind the COVID-19 situation around the globe and the health and safety of everyone involved.

The Free Fire World Series 2021 Singapore will witness 18 teams from 11 regions across the world. The play-ins that begin from May 28 will see 9 teams fight it out for the top three spots in the Finals. “Maintaining the health and safety of all involved continues to be a top priority. The date was shifted to accommodate the global pandemic situation and local public health protocols,” Garena said in a media release.

Due to restrictions put in place by the Singapore government, teams from India, Bangladesh and Pakistan will not be able to travel to Singapore to compete.

The Free Fire World Series 2021 Singapore starts on May 28 from 6:30 PM IST while the Finals will be held on May 30 from 6:30 PM IST.

The tournament’s top 9 teams will win a share from the US $2 Million prize pool which is Free Fire’s largest ever.

Garena plans two further international tournaments this year. In July, the company plans to host Free Fire All-Stars. This event aims to bring together top influencers and professional players from around the world. It will then pit them against each other to see who is the best. Then in November, the company plans to hold the second edition of the Free Fire World Series. Hopefully, the situation in India and the world will have improved enough to host the event without any issues.
