In a bid to take on Reliance Jio, Airtel has silently released two new data add-on plans for its prepaid subscribers. The two plans are priced at Rs 78 and Rs 248 targeted to serve different demands.
The plan was first seen by OnlyTech on the Airtel Thanks app. The two plans, in addition to data add-on, offer free access to Wynk premium subscription. The Rs 78 plan offers one-month Wynk premium subscription whereas the Rs 248 plan comes with one-year validity.
Along with the new data add-on plans, Airtel has also added the option to buy Wynk Premium subscription straight from the Airtel Thanks app. The premium membership costs Rs 49 per month and Rs 399 per year on the Digital Store.
Earlier this month, Amazon Prime also launched a mobile-only edition of Prime Video called Prime Video Mobile Edition in partnership with Airtel. It is available with the Rs 89 recharge from Airtel.
Here’s what the new Airtel data add-on packs offer
The two plans are only for Airtel prepaid users who want to add extra 4G data to their existing plan. As evident from the price, the Rs 78 plan offers 5GB of additional data and the Rs 248 plan offers 25GB of 4G data. Note that both the plans are applicable to existing plan’s validity. Meaning, if your existing plan expires in 10 days, the add-on data will also be valid for the given period.
If a user crosses the data tariff FUP, Airtel will charge 50 paise per MB from the main balance. If the account is out of balance, the user will not be able to access the internet using mobile data.
The newly launched the Rs 78 data add-on plan for prepaid users offers 5GB of 4G data with the same validity as the subscriber’s existing validity recharge plan. In addition, the data pack offers a one-month free Wynk premium subscription. The operator notes that once the data tariff FUP has been crossed, the usage of data will be charged at 50 paise per MB data.
